PGA professional instruction, rental clubs. The Mountain Golf School (800-343-0762), at the Killington Resort, features two-day weekend and three-day midweek instructional programs. 
  • Green Mountain National Golf Course (802-422-4653); gmngc.com), Barrows-Towne Rd. and Rt. 100, Killington. This highly rated 18-hole course includes a clubhouse, three practice teeing areas, four target greens, and an 8,000 square foot putting green.
  • The Rutland Country Club (802-773-3254), a mile north of the business section on N. Grove St., Rutland. An 18-hole golf course on rolling terrain; restaurant.
  • Proctor-Pittsford Country Club (802-287-9341), Rt. 30, south of Poultney. Eighteen holes, lounge, and restaurant.
  • Lake St. Catherine Country Club (802-287-9341), Rt. 30, south of Poultney. Eighteen holes, lounge, and restaurant.
  • The Prospect Bay Country Club (802-468-5581) in Castleton offers nine holes
  • Stonehenge Golf (802-773-2666), Rt. 103 west, North Clarendon, is a nine-hole, par-3 public course.
